AI-powered software from Northeast Ohio

Built faster with AI. Built to last by an engineer.

I'm Rob Palomo. I use AI and modern engineering practices to deliver quality software faster, backed by 20+ years in industries where mistakes are expensive: defense, aviation, manufacturing and IoT. I build the apps and tools businesses run on, add AI to the products they already have, and help software teams ship faster with fewer bugs. I take on a limited number of projects at a time, so each one gets my full attention.

What I do

For business owners

Web apps & MVPs

Build the app or tool you need

A working product without hiring a full team.

  • Scoped to what you need to launch, with nothing extra
  • Sign-in, user roles and permissions built in from day one
  • Connected to the tools and systems you already use

AI features

Add AI to your product

Put AI to work inside the software you use every day.

  • Photos and scans turned into usable data, like my golf app's scorecard import
  • Repetitive manual steps handed off to AI
  • Built with the same testing and review as everything else

Legacy modernization

Replace the system everyone's afraid to touch

A modern replacement for the old tool your business depends on.

  • Tested first, so nothing breaks along the way
  • Moved over step by step, so the business keeps running
  • Experience leading rewrites with outside development firms

For software teams

Test automation & CI/CD

Stop bugs before your customers find them

Quality is a feature. Tests are what let a team move fast without fear.

  • Playwright end-to-end suites, on desktop and mobile
  • Every service tested together in Docker, the way it runs in production
  • Pipelines that test and deploy every change (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps)

AI-assisted engineering

Help your team ship faster with AI

Get real speed out of AI coding agents without giving up judgment.

  • Written instructions for AI agents at every stage, from planning to release
  • Skills, hooks and automated code reviews tailored to your codebase
  • The workflow that roughly halved my teams' delivery time

AI-powered development

AI for speed. Judgment for everything else.

I use AI at every stage of the work: planning, building, reviewing and releasing, with the same process every time. Predictability is the key: the same steps give the same quality, from people and from AI. With the same team, it roughly halved delivery time.

  • Days, not weeks

Work that used to take a week now takes about two days. Features that took two to three weeks ship in 7–10 days. Small changes take minutes instead of hours.

  • Trust, but verify

AI writes code fast, so the checks have to be automatic. Every change runs the full test suite, and AI reviews each one before I do. Nothing ships on trust alone.

  • A process that runs itself

Each change moves from plan to build, review and release through automated steps. Work is checked as it's written, and scheduled checks run the tests and report problems on their own.

  • AI inside your product

AI can do real work inside your app. My golf app turns a photo of a scorecard into scores in seconds.

AirTera · Aviation security & compliance

A new platform, built from scratch

The problem
AirTera needed a new platform, built to grow with its customers and to connect with the outside systems they already use.
What I built
Led a team of 4 engineers building it from the ground up. I owned the design of the whole system, from security and who-can-see-what to the data and the connections with outside systems.
The result
Releases became predictable: every part of the platform was tested together before each one went out, a first for the team. The team could also see problems as they happened and how people actually used the product.

AirTera · Aviation security & compliance

Moving the largest customer to a new platform

The problem
Their largest customer ran on a legacy platform. The business needed them on a new, generic product built to win future customers.
What I built
Led the migration. When an AI-planned migration missed critical tables, we built a dedicated migration testing environment to protect personal data, and used AI-assisted queries against the legacy databases to understand the real data.
The result
Delivered on time and on budget despite significant scope growth. The lessons I share: scrutinize AI output, push back on scope early, and build telemetry sooner.

Bridgestone Americas · Manufacturing & simulation

Keeping long-lived engineering tools safe to change

The problem
Bridgestone relies on in-house software for virtual tire development and simulation, and on manufacturing tools that needed modernizing. One codebase was two years old with no tests.
What I built
My first move was writing tests, and I was productive within weeks. Then I helped lead automated testing at every level, run on every change before it reached any of four environments. Later, as technical lead on modernizing older tools, I was the go-between for Bridgestone and the outside development firms.
The result
Testing everything together, which people had thought wasn't possible, meant new changes stopped breaking old ones. The team could keep improving tools the business had relied on for years without fear.

Lockheed Martin · Defense & flight simulation

Aligning teams on F-35 simulators

The problem
F-35 full-mission simulators are built by several teams, on different platforms, and their systems all have to talk to each other.
What I built
About 11 years of software across the air vehicle, runtime infrastructure, mission systems and formal test teams. I was the site's subject-matter expert for the networking software that let the distributed simulation systems communicate.
The result
I aligned teams I didn't manage by documenting how their systems should connect, meeting each team on its constraints and building tools. A visual tool I built became every team's source of truth for what was happening in the live simulation.

Golf tournament & league tracker

The problem
Leagues, tournaments and outings need handicap scoring, standings and player stats that are easy to run week after week.
What I built
A progressive web app, designed and built solo, end to end, including an AI feature that turns photos of scorecards into scores.
The result
It's also where I sharpen my AI workflow: AI plans, reviews and tests each change, and an automated weekly check finds unreliable tests and files them to be fixed. One of those checks exposed a hidden 1,000-player limit. The fix was a better design, not a patched test.

About Rob

I'm Rob Palomo, a lead software engineer in Northeast Ohio with more than 20 years of building production software: F-35 flight simulators at Lockheed Martin, neutron detector systems at GE, connected devices at Landi Industries, engineering tools at Bridgestone, and most recently an aviation security and compliance platform at AirTera.

I'm a leader who stays in the code. I lead by example, raise the quality bar and learn what makes each person on a team great. One senior engineer I mentored had never written an automated click-through test. He became a strong Playwright practitioner and took that skill to a better-paying job.

Palomo Full Stack Tech is my independent practice. I take on a limited number of projects at a time and lead each one personally, from the first call to hand-off.

Outside of client work, I'm a golfer (I built my own league app), passionate about fitness of all kinds, and always tinkering with new tech.

Questions

Do I need to be technical?

No. Tell me what you're trying to get done, and I'll handle the technical side and explain choices in plain terms when there's one to make.

Do you use AI on my project?

Yes, at every stage, because it gets you quality software faster. Every line it helps write is reviewed and tested by me before it reaches you.

What does it cost?

Every project starts with a written plan and a fixed estimate, so you know the price before any work begins.

Can you work with the system I already have?

Usually, yes. Most projects connect to tools a business already uses, and modernizing older systems is a big part of what I do.

How do we stay in touch?

Email for day-to-day questions, and a text or a phone call whenever that's quicker.

Who owns the code?

You do. It's delivered with tests, automated deployments and documentation, so you're never locked in to me.

What happens after launch?

That's something we work out together. Every product is different, so support and maintenance depend on what yours needs, and we'll agree on terms that fit.

Have a project in mind?

Tell me what you're building or what's slowing your team down. I reply within two business days.
